MEDIA RELEASE For immediate release Wednesday 21 February 2007 ACER opens Perth office The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) will officially open its Perth office today, establishing a permanent presence in Western Australia for the first time. The opening of a Perth office follows ACER’s recent acquisition of Unicom Education, a supplier of special needs and speech and language resources for teachers, established in the late 1990s. Shane Thompson, who has owned and managed Unicom for the past five years, joins the staff of ACER Press as an Education Consultant for Western Australia. “The opening of a Perth office and the appointment of an Education Consultant for Western Australia demonstrates ACER’s commitment to developing our services for Western Australian customers in schools and the private sector,” said ACER’s chief executive Professor Geoff Masters. “The addition of Unicom Education’s suite of products to the ACER Press range also enables ACER to expand its offering in special needs resources for special educators, teachers, parents, speech-language pathologists and psychologists nationally.” Professor Masters will officially open the office and showroom on Wednesday 21 February at 5.30pm. The Perth office is located at 7/1329 Hay Street West Perth, WA 6005, Telephone 08 9485 2194, Fax 08 9485 2195 ****************ENDS*************
