Australian education and training: new policies

The Annual Conference of the Monash University-ACER Centre for the Economics of Education and Training (CEET) will be held in Melbourne on Friday 3 November. This year's theme is Australian Education and Training: New Policies. The conference will consider education and training policies in the context of changes in the Australian population, workforce and economy.

MEDIA RELEASE For immediate release: Wednesday 1 November 2006 Australian Education & Training: New policies The Annual Conference of the Monash University-ACER Centre for the Economics of Education and Training (CEET) will be held in Melbourne on Friday 3 November. This year's theme is Australian Education and Training: New Policies. The conference will consider education and training policies in the context of changes in the Australian population, workforce and economy. Michael Keating AC, from the Australian National University and Chairman of the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal, NSW will present the opening presentation entitled Training and employment participation. Other speakers and their topics include: • Julian Teicher, Head, Department of Management, Monash University and Associate CEET, National IR changes and the impact on training • Tom Karmel, Managing Director, NCVER, Apprentices and trainees: The future outlook • Chandra Shah, CEET, Future growth in the skilled workforce • John Ainley, David Curtis & Phil McKenzie, ACER, VET experiences: what the Longitudinal Survey of Australian Youth tells us • Gerald Burke, CEET, Spending on education and training. an update The conference will take place between 9:00am and 4:00pm, Friday 3 November, Ascot House, 50 Fenton St, Ascot Vale, Melbourne. CEET is a joint venture of Monash University - Faculty of Education and Faculty of Business and Economics - and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).
