New Certified Practising Principals announced

The CPP Board agreed at its December meeting that Ms Helen Jamieson, Executive Principal, Corinda State High School, Queensland and Ms Jacqui O’Donnell, Principal, Rockingham Beach Primary School, Western Australia provided clear, consistent and convincing evidence that their leadership practice demonstrates the Australian Professional Standard for Principals in action in their schools.

In consequence, Helen and Jacqui have been awarded professional certification and the right to use the post-nominal CPP (Certified Practising Principal).

Helen and Jacqui join the eight principals who achieved Certification in December 2017 as early adopters of CPP, embracing the professional certification system for Australia’s school principals and blazing a trail in recognising and promoting expert school leadership in this country.

The CPP asks principals to reflect upon their professional practice and to submit evidence of their impact on teacher efficacy, student achievement and whole-school improvement. Their work is assessed according to criteria developed by the principal profession and mapped to the Australian Professional Standard for Principals.

The CPP formally recognises school leaders and the important work they do. In doing so, we are not just acknowledging the skills and experience of the certified few but are also shining a spotlight on the complexity and challenges involved in today’s demanding school leadership roles.
