Our children's TV show about Indigenous kids, Little J & Big Cuz, is the winner of a 2018 Logie Award.

We’re delighted to announce that our animated television series, Little J & Big Cuz, won the 2018 Logie Award for ‘Most outstanding children’s program’ last night.

The series is an initiative of the ACER Foundation and was brought to Australian screens in conjunction with these valued partners: SNAICC, Ned Lander Media, NITV and SBS, Screen Australia, Film Victoria, Screen Tasmania and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.

As part of ACER’s broader school readiness initiative, Little J & Big Cuz aims to support a successful transition from home to school for Indigenous children and their families. It has been translated into seven languages and embraced by cultural groups across Australia – and, most importantly, by the children it depicts, as well as their non-Indigenous peers. It’s story-driven, educational, supported by research and lots of fun, too.

The show is voiced by prominent Indigenous actors including Miranda Tapsell, who accepted the award last night on behalf of the team, Deborah Mailman and Aaron Fa’aoso. Watch them interviewed after the awards here or download episodes of Little J & Big Cuz from the show’s website, where you will also find more than 300 resources for parents and teachers.

Series two is currently in development and will screen in 2019.

Two episodes of Little J & Big Cuz have also been nominated for an Australian Writers’ Guild Award (AWGIE) in the Children’s Television (Preschool) category – the only nominees in this category.

Congratulations to Lisa Norris, ACER Foundation Director, who had the original vision for the series and its potential, and to all our partner organisations.
