Corrective Mathematics and Connecting Maths Concepts Workshop

Corrective Mathematics is a highly focused intervention program consisting of strategic modules that offer quick, targeting intervention to build understanding of:

  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Multiplication
  • Division
  • Basic fractions
  • Fractions, decimals and percentages.

You will learn how Corrective Mathematics enables you to teach mathematics skills, rules, and strategies efficiently and effectively, by focusing on core content and breaking this content into a series of small conceptual steps and embedded skills.

Corrective Mathematics ensures that students will learn to work mathematics problems accurately and confidently and provides intensive support for students who have difficulty with mathematics. The seven strategic modules provide teacher-directed instruction on critical skills and concepts which struggling students often fail to grasp.

Connecting Math Concepts introduces ideas gradually and teaches students the connections between concepts. Focusing on big ideas in mathematics, the program teaches explicit strategies that enable students to master challenging concepts such as ratios, proportions, probability, functions and data analysis. Detailed explanations and guided practice enable students to:

  • Progress toward independent work
  • Achieve mastery of basic skills
  • Become confident mathematical thinkers
  • Develop sophisticated problem-solving strategies


Delivery mode: Face-to-face

Duration: 6.5 hours

Resources: All required resources are provided, including course notes and stationery. All registrants will receive a certificate of participation at the conclusion of the workshop.
