ACER invites you to attend our Driving School Improvement workshops and launch events or participate in a half-day Masterclass hosted by Melbourne Girls’ College and led by authors Pamela Macklin and Vic Zbar.
More dates coming soon.
ACER’s next publication, Driving School Improvement: A practical guide, is due to be released in October 2017. Driving School Improvement is designed to support school leaders in meeting their improvement challenges in ways that can be contextualised to their circumstances. Its focus is on implementation, and it contains tools, activities and proformas that have been used successfully in a range of schools. These can be adapted to suit your school’s particular context.
This half-day Masterclass, led by Pamela Macklin and Vic Zbar, brings together the most recent research and understanding about how school improvement typically occurs and how it can be successfully driven throughout schools. Participants will explore:
- the sources of variation in student learning
- why some schools perform better than others
- how schools improve and the stages through which they progress
- what effective teachers do
- how we can support teachers to engage in best practice.
Vic Zbar and Pamela Macklin will provide an insight into their new book, Driving School Improvement: A practical guide. More specifically, this interactive workshop will provide you with an understanding of the stages of continuous whole-school improvement and how you can determine where your school is at. The authors will outline the key strategies for progressing through each stage, based on a mix of research and actual school experiences, and an indication of some of the tools that have successfully been used. Central to all of this is a focus on building leadership capacity and effectiveness in the school and supporting more teachers to work like the best. Attendance at the workshop will include a copy of the book, which includes more detailed discussion of this proven school improvement approach, as well as a range of proformas, tools and exemplars that can readily be adapted for use in your school. A complimentary invitation to the book launch event following the workshop is included in the registration.
There will be a 45 minute launch event at the conclusion of each workshop and the Masterclass. Please join ACER and authors Pamela Macklin and Vic Zbar to celebrate the launch of Driving School Improvement: A practical guide. Light refreshments will be available at each launch event.
ACER is proud to announce that these events will be attended by key educational leaders.
