This project will investigate ways of using advances in technology to increase the information provided for learning and assessments in digital environments.
There are two investigative strands in this project. The first is based on an adaptive learning and dynamic assessment system using a ‘conservation of energy’ learning module. The prototype for this system is being developed. The system has been designed with an assessment system, a feedback system and a student model around the learning module.
The second strand focuses on early years science learning and assessment. This strand will start with a literature review to identify key science concepts for young learners and to inform a series of brief papers for educators. Science activities based on key concepts and incorporating learning and assessment will be embedded in digital learning environments appropriate for early years students.
